STAR Scholars Launches Humane Letters Grant to Support Open-Access Publishing

Baltimore, MD – In a significant move to promote open access and free thinking in academia, STAR Scholars have introduced the Humane Letters Grant. This new grant aims to empower authors to publish open-access books and articles, fostering a culture of intellectual diversity and innovation in the humanities. The grant is established to cover the article processing fees (APC) so that no scholar is left behind just because of financial barriers.

The Humane Letters Grant is open for applications on a rolling basis, offering a unique opportunity for continuous support in educational research projects. The grant focuses on:

  • Book Projects: Financial assistance for the publication of books that contribute meaningfully to the humanities.
  • Article Writing: Support for the research and writing of scholarly articles.
  • Publication Costs: Aid in covering expenses related to the publishing of academic papers or journals, e.g., the article processing charge.

Application Requirements:

Interested applicants are required to submit:

  • Manuscript Approval: Evidence of manuscript approval from a reputed publication venue.
  • Abstract/Summary: A concise summary (maximum 200 words) outlining the project’s significance and expected contribution.
  • Budget Plan: A detailed budget proposal, including any in-kind or matching funds from the applicant’s employer or institution.
