Emily Schell – STAR Scholar

Emily Schell, STAR Scholar, Stanford University

Emily Schell is a doctoral student in the Developmental and Psychological Sciences program at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Education. She received her BA with honors in International Relations and East Asian Studies from Brown University in 2016 and MA in International Comparative Education from Stanford University in 2018. Prior to coming to Stanford, she was a Fulbright English Teacher in rural Taiwan. Emily’s research seeks to understand how students from different cultural backgrounds decide on major(s) or career(s), with the hope of helping high schools and colleges create more supportive advising frameworks for students from international and historically underrepresented backgrounds. 

In addition to her membership in the Study Abroad and International Student SIG of the Comparative and International Education Society, Emily supports the STAR Scholars Network through helping to plan and implement its monthly webinar series
