Marina Falasca is a Professor and Researcher based in Argentina, where she lectures at two leading teacher education institutions and supervises teaching practicum experiences. Her research interests include educational technology, English for Specific Purposes (ESP), global citizenship education, Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) and virtual exchange, internationalization of the curriculum, and sustainable development in both secondary and higher education. She works closely with educators, researchers, and institutions worldwide to advance global education, critical AI literacy, and transnational collaboration through virtual exchange.
Through her leadership with STAR, Marina coordinates collaborative research projects and promotes meaningful intercultural engagement among students, teachers, and scholars through virtual programs, webinars, and faculty development initiatives. She has designed and led transnational COIL programs across Ibero-America, Europe, and other regions, supporting the development of globally connected and socially responsible learning experiences. She also serves as COIL Program Coordinator at GlobalEd, where she leads the development and expansion of GlobalEd’s virtual exchange and COIL initiatives, including the establishment of the program’s advisory board and strategic framework.
Marina’s work advances inclusive, technology-enhanced education aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through virtual exchange, COIL, and collaborative research, she drives initiatives that connect classrooms across borders, strengthen global competence, and empower educators to address real-world challenges through intercultural learning. Her leadership in advancing sustainable, transnational collaboration in secondary and higher education has been recognized with the Klett Award for Sustainable Development Education in the World Language Classroom (2024) and the Global Education Prize AAICEP Iberoamérica (2025). She has also received the 2025 Guardian of Peer Review Excellence Award from the Journal of International Students in recognition of her exceptional professionalism, methodological rigor, and significant service to the scholarly community.
