Dr. Lynn Pasquerella Receives Lifetime Achievement Medal at 2022 STAR Global Conference

Mauritius – Dr. Lynn Pasquerella has been honored with the Northstar Medal of Lifetime Achievement at the 2022 STAR Global Conference held in Mauritius. This prestigious award, part of the A. Noam Chomsky Global Connections Awards administered by the STAR Scholars Network, is conferred upon individuals who have made a significant global impact shaping a humane world.

Dr. Lynn Pasquerella has been the President of the American Association of Colleges and Universities since 2016, following her tenure as the eighteenth president of Mount Holyoke College. Her academic career includes roles as Provost at the University of Hartford and Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Graduate School at the University of Rhode Island, where she taught for over two decades. A distinguished philosopher, Dr. Pasquerella’s work bridges teaching, scholarship, and engagement on both local and global scales. She has authored numerous publications on medical ethics, metaphysics, public policy, and the philosophy of law. Her recent book, What We Value: Public Health, Social Justice, and Educating for Democracy, delves into higher education’s role in addressing key contemporary issues at the nexus of ethics, law, and public policy.

Dr. Pasquerella’s illustrious career is marked by numerous awards and honors, including the President’s Award and Judith Krug Medal from Phi Beta Kappa, the William Rogers Award and the Horace Mann Medal from Brown University, and the North Star Lifetime Achievement Award from the STAR Scholars Network. She has also received the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Service to Humanity Award from Mary Baldwin University, the Council of Colleges of Arts and Sciences Advocacy Award, Quinebaug Valley Community College Champions Award, and the Elizabeth Topham Kennan Award from the Mount Holyoke Alumni Association. Her contributions to education have been recognized with honorary degrees from several institutions, including Elizabethtown College, Bishop’s University, the University of South Florida, the University of Hartford, the University of Rhode Island, Concordia College, Mount Holyoke College, Bay Path University, and St. Mary’s College. Furthermore, she was named one of America’s top 35 women leaders by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education.

A graduate of Quinebaug Valley Community College, Mount Holyoke College, and Brown University, Dr. Pasquerella continues to serve on the boards of several organizations, including the Lingnan Foundation, the National Trust for the Humanities, the Coalition for the Common Good, and Handshake. She is the immediate past president of the Phi Beta Kappa Society and hosts Northeast Public Radio’s The Academic Minute.
