Larissa Chekmareva (nee Savitskaya), Diploma in Physics, MPA, M.Ed, is a doctoral student (International Education) at the University of Massachusetts, USA. Her topic is on building institutional autonomy in higher education in Kazakhstan (focusing on students: access, diversity, equity, enrollment management). She is a practitioner, who served as the Deputy to the President/Dean for Enrollment Management and the University Registrar at KIMEP University (2000-2014, Almaty, Kazakhstan). She also has been involved, as an education consultant, in the projects with UNESCO, UNICEF, World Bank, National Ministries of Education in Central Asia and other agencies, nationally and internationally.
