Jagadish Paudel

Jagadish Paudel, Ph.D.
Campus Liaison, STAR Scholars Network

Dr. Jagadish Paudel is an Assistant Professor of English at Indiana University East in Richmond, Indiana, and serves as a Campus Liaison to the STAR Scholars Network. A scholar of rhetoric and writing studies, he examines how writers move across languages, cultures, and technologies, and how writing programs can better serve increasingly diverse student populations.

Dr. Paudel earned his doctorate from the University of Texas at El Paso, a Hispanic-Serving Institution on the U.S.–Mexico border, where he studied and taught. He then served as a Postdoctoral Writing Fellow in the Department of English at Clemson University in South Carolina before joining the faculty at Indiana University East.

His research spans multilingual writing, global rhetorics and cultures, generative artificial intelligence, and writing program administration. Drawing on his experiences in Nepal, El Paso, and South Carolina, he brings a transnational perspective to the field. His work treats linguistic and cultural diversity as a resource for teaching and learning, not a deficit to be corrected. His attention to generative AI places him at the center of one of the most pressing conversations in writing education today: how emerging technologies are reshaping the ways students compose, learn, and communicate.

Dr. Paudel is also committed to building and sustaining professional communities. He is the former Chair of the Writing Program Administration Graduate Organization (WPA-GO), where he supported graduate students and early-career scholars entering the field. He currently serves as an editor for the Practices & Possibilities book series at the WAC Clearinghouse, a leading open-access publisher in writing studies.

As a STAR Campus Liaison, Dr. Paudel connects Indiana University East with the STAR Scholars Network’s global community, advancing its mission of transnational scholarly collaboration and expanding opportunities for students and faculty to engage across borders.
