Imani Stanley Matonya

Imani Stanley Matonya is a Tanzanian academic, researcher, educator, and youth worker with a commitment to sustainable development, youth empowerment, and higher education transformation. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Marketing at the University of Dodoma, with research focusing on sustainability and contract farming practices in ensuring consistent production and market access for agricultural products — factors vital to Tanzania’s food security and inclusive rural development.

Imani serves as a Lecturer at the Tanzania Institute of Accountancy (TIA), where he teaches Marketing and Public Relations, reaching more than 5,000 students since 2000. His academic qualifications include a Master of Business Administration from the University of Dodoma, a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from St. John’s University of Tanzania, and a Diploma in Secondary Education from Tabora Teachers College. His professional background spans academia, the youth sector, business development, and corporate management.

Imani has participated in and contributed to several international projects and academic collaborations, particularly through Erasmus+ programmes and strategic institutional partnerships. He has been involved in organising and preparing delegations for international conferences and educational exchanges, enhancing cross-cultural academic dialogue and knowledge sharing. His leadership is well demonstrated through his roles as a mentor, club advisor, and Board Chair of Chamwino Arts Centre, where he has volunteered for over a decade to promote youth, the arts, and community education.

He is also the visionary founder of The Aneth and Patricia Open School (APOS), a forthcoming initiative to support school dropouts and disadvantaged youth with accessible, flexible education pathways. This initiative is supported by Youth for Future, his digital platform connecting young people across Tanzania with learning opportunities, innovation programmes, and leadership mentorship.

Imani’s work reflects his strong belief in the power of education, digital inclusion, sustainability, global collaboration, and the transformation of people’s lives.
