The STAR Scholars Network’s Global Education for Peace Award honors and recognizes higher education institutions (HEIs) around the world that contribute significantly to the promotion of global peace through education. This award celebrates institutions that integrate global perspectives into their curriculum and foster a sense of global citizenship among their students.
What is your university doing to promote world peace?
Submission Guidelines:
Institutions of higher education are invited to apply for the Global Education Award by submitting a comprehensive summary of their Teaching, Learning, and Support. The submission should not exceed 500 words and must address the following aspects:
- Innovative Course Delivery: Outline the innovative courses being offered at your institution. Describe how these courses contribute to global education and peace.
- Curricular Goals and Learning Objectives: Detail the specific goals and learning objectives of your curriculum in fostering global education and peace.
- Pedagogical Approaches: Explain the pedagogical methods employed in the classrooms to nurture global understanding and peace.
- Global Citizenship in Education: Discuss if and how nurturing global citizens is an integral part of your institution’s graduate attributes.
- Faculty and Student Ratio: Provide information on the faculty-to-student ratio at your institution and how it facilitates effective global education.
- Community Engagement: Describe your institution’s efforts in engaging with both local and global communities.
- International Collaborations: List the number of active international collaborations your institution is involved in.
- International Faculty: Provide details on the number of full-time international faculty members, including the diversity of their countries of origin.
- International Students: Share statistics on the number of international students enrolled at your institution.
- Qualitative Evidence: Optionally, you may include qualitative evidence, such as blogs or vlogs, showcasing the response and experiences of international students at your institution.
Submission Process:
- This submission has closed. When next year’s submission starts on February 1, please submit your application using the designated online submission form. Please make sure you submit during the application window (see timeline below).
- Ensure all information is accurate and within the word limit.
- Include any supporting materials (e.g., blogs, vlogs) as links within your submission.

Next year’s submissions open in February. The 2025 Global Education for Peace Award has been announced.

Recognition during the next STAR Global Conference
Evaluation Criteria:
Submissions will be evaluated based on the depth, breadth, and impact of the institution’s efforts in promoting global education and peace. The selection committee will consider the innovative nature of the courses, the effectiveness of pedagogical approaches, and the extent of international collaboration and community engagement.
The winner of the Global Education Award will be announced on the United Nations International Day of Peace (September 21) and will be recognized at the STAR Scholars Network annual global conference.
