Creative drama is a powerful process which augments social, cognitive and emotional development. Realized through community engagement, it is a powerful tool for social transformation.
Mindfulness is the practice of being focused in the present moment, observing thoughts, sensations, emotions, and various aspects of the self and our surroundings in the given moment. Mindfulness helps improve our ability to be focused and discerning. It enhances emotional regulation and executive function apart from being a tool for resilience, empathy, self- awareness and self-compassion.
Creative drama as an approach blended with mindfulness attunes towards greater empathy and connectedness not only to one’s own self but with humanity at large. The transformative tool of drama supports co-creation, empathy and compassion to realize a more humane society. The non judgmental space to connect with one’s own self and with others can lead to appreciating diversity and a resource for enriched experiential learning.
Intent: To engage the participants in drama processes as they get into spaces to be guided into mindfulness practices.
Open for: While this workshop is designed for scholars who do some form of teaching/ community-facing work, it is open to anyone who has a sense of curiosity to unlearn, learn and co-create.
