Dr. Sapkota’s Message to STAR Scholars on COVID-19

Dear STAR Scholars around the world,

These are unprecedented times. Our society has changed immensely over the past month as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. We have been thrust into a new reality. Courses typically taught in a traditional format have suddenly been transformed into remote instruction in an online environment. We have had to work from home while remaining both productive and efficient under these perilous conditions.

Dr. Sanjeeb Sapkota has over 19 years of experience working in public health and health care in various positions including as a public health expert, Medical Epidemiologist, Research Scientist, Project manager, Senior Data Analyst, and Communication Specialist in different government public health agencies including World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) and ministries of health of several countries around the world including Nepal, Zimbabwe, Finland, the Philippines, and the Netherlands. Dr. Sapkota is also an American Heart Association certified instructor for the CPR and AED. Dr. Sanjeeb Sapkota has held numerous leadership positions including the president of the Nepali Medical Student Society (NMSS), International Federation of Medical Student Associations (IFMSA), Nepalese Association in Southeast America (NASeA) and the chairperson of the Global Health & Hygiene Committee of Non-resident Nepali Association-International Coordinating Council.
