Dr. María Cruz Cuevas Álvarez

María Cruz holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Languages, a Master’s in Teaching, and a PhD diploma in Educative Management. She has a 29-year experience as a professor in different educative institutions. She is a Senior Professor at Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco located in the southeast Mexico. She teaches in bachelor, master, and in doctoral programs.

She also holds international certifications on languages, teaching, and digital teaching competence: CAE (Certificate on Advanced English) by Cambridge University; French certificate by Alliance Française Mexico; TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test) by Cambridge University; ECT (Edmodo Certified Trainer) and Flipped Classroom by Edmodo; ICDL Digital Teaching Competence (TIC para la educación).

Her doctoral diploma allows her to teach both education and management content. Therefore, she can tutor dissertations on both subjects. Her research lines are on Internationalization of Higher Education, Internationalization of the Curriculum, Intercultural Competence, Research Competence, and Digital Teaching Competence. Even though she has specific research lines, she can also mentor students on management lines of research, such as: Leadership, Management, Strategic Management, Business Structure, Business Culture, Abilities for Employment, and Marketing.

She is also a peer reviewer in six different international publications, from which the Journal of International Students stands out because it is a publication indexed in Scopus. In 2022, she was the recipient of the Editor’s Choice Award because of her commitment with the revision of manuscripts. In 2023, she became a member of the Millenium Scholars Program where mentees receive training on research, and suggestions for publications.

She is also a member of the National Council of Research since 2019, the State Council of Research since 2017, and a member of the World Council of Intercultural and Global Competence since 2019, where she collaborates in the Graduate Student Working Group, and is co-responsible of the ICC Assessment Working Group.
