Dr. Jamelah Murrell – STAR Fellow

Dr. Jamelah Murrell is an adult education specialist. She joined the Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education (OCTAE) of the U.S. Department of Education in September 2015. Prior to joining OCTAE, she served as an Education Program Specialist in the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education for seven years. Dr. Murrell is also a former secondary English teacher from Prince George’s County Public Schools in Maryland. In OCTAE, she serves as a Perkins Regional Coordinator in the Division of Academic and Technical Education. In this capacity, she oversees eight states (the Mid-Northern Region) to ensure accountability and implementation of the Perkins V program. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Education from Delaware State University; a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Development from Bowie State University; and recently completed her Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Morgan State University.
