Dr. Betty Leask Receives Lifetime Achievement Medal at 2022 STAR Global Conference

Mauritius – Dr. Betty Leask has been honored with the Northstar Medal of Lifetime Achievement at the 2022 STAR Global Conference held in Mauritius. This esteemed award, part of the A. Noam Chomsky Global Connections Awards administered by the STAR Scholars Network, recognizes individuals who have made a profound global impact.

“Dr. Leask’s pioneering research and leadership in internationalizing the curriculum have transformed higher education practices worldwide,” said Uttam Gaulee, President of the STAR Scholars Network. “Her dedication to enhancing teaching and learning has set a benchmark for educators globally.”

Dr. Betty Leask is an internationally recognized researcher and thought leader in the internationalization of the curriculum, teaching, and learning in higher education. Over the last 25 years, she has published more than 100 peer-reviewed publications on a broad range of international higher education (IHE) topics. She is Emeritus Professor in the School of Education at La Trobe University, Australia, and Chief Editor of the *Journal of Studies in International Education*, the highest-ranked journal in the field. Additionally, Dr. Leask serves as a Senior Australian Teaching Fellow, Research Fellow at the Center for International Higher Education at Boston College, USA, Honorary Visiting Fellow and Founding Scholar at the Centre for Higher Education Internationalisation (CHEI) Università Cattolica del Sacre Cuore in Milan, Italy, and Research Fellow in the Center of Internationalization of Education Brazil-Australia at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

In 2013, Dr. Leask developed a research-based conceptual framework and process model of internationalization of the curriculum (IoC) as part of an Australian government-funded National Teaching Fellowship. Her bestselling book, *Internationalising the Curriculum*, published by Routledge in 2015, remains a key resource in the field. Dr. Leask actively contributes to the international education community through her roles on committees, project boards, and honorary appointments at various universities. In recognition of her significant contributions, she was awarded life membership of the International Education Association of Australia in 2021.
