Dr. Andrea Lee

Andrea Rakushin Lee, Ed.D. is the Doctor of Education program coordinator and assistant professor of Educational Specialties at Austin Peay State University. Her expertise lies in exploring the intersection of education, culture, and language, providing valuable insights into enhancing learning experiences for students around the world. Andrea has published in various journals with topics spanning intercultural fluency, refugee education, and the role of technology in language learning. She also lived in South Korea for 11 years, where she was heavily involved in working with North Korean refugees, which instilled in her the importance of inclusivity, compassion, and understanding of diverse cultures.

Beyond her scholarly contributions, Andrea is a dedicated mentor and educator. She has chaired multiple dissertations, supporting students in their research journeys. Her commitment to fostering educational growth extends to her roles as a research and teaching mentor, exemplifying her commitment to promoting success among students and early-career scholars. She is also dedicated to supporting international students by guiding them toward academic success and empowering them to cultivate invaluable networks.

Furthermore, Andrea‘s dedication to service is evident in her contributions to the community and profession. She has played an active role in promoting multicultural initiatives, developing exchange programs, and collaborating with universities overseas. She also serves as an ambassador for the HundrED program, which promotes innovation in education globally. In the role of country director, she is excited to build on her experience in international education, cross-cultural engagement, and global pedagogy to foster meaningful connections, shared knowledge, and mutual growth within the STARS network.
