Recognizing O. P. Jindal Global University (India) and American University in the Emirates (UAE)

Washington, DC (September 21, 2025) — The STAR Scholars Network proudly announces the recipients of the 2025 Global Education for Peace Award, a prestigious honor recognizing higher education institutions that exemplify an unwavering commitment to advancing peace through education. This global accolade celebrates institutions that embed peace education within their curricula, foster global citizenship, and promote intercultural understanding through innovative teaching and international collaboration.
Applications were reviewed by a global committee chaired by John C. Weidman, Professor Emeritus of Higher and International Development Education at the University of Pittsburgh, USA. The selection committee evaluated institutions on the depth, breadth, and measurable impact of their efforts to promote peace education globally.
This year, two outstanding institutions are being honored: O. P. Jindal Global University (JGU), located in Sonipat, Haryana, India, and American University in the Emirates (AUE), based in Dubai, UAE.
JGU has a curriculum designed to prepare students for leadership roles in a globalized world by emphasizing ethical leadership, interdisciplinary learning, critical thinking, and practical engagement. JGU has over 450 partnerships with leading institutions worldwide. It maintains the Mahatma Gandhi Centre for Peace Studies. JGU is deeply committed to engaging with both local and global communities through various initiatives that foster collaboration, social responsibility, and global understanding. Through a blend of community service, international collaboration, research initiatives, and advocacy, JGU contributes to both local development and global discourse, preparing its students to become informed and responsible global citizens.
AUE offers academic programs designed to foster inclusive excellence, social impact, and lifelong learning. Its approach prioritizes accessibility and equity, with a strong focus on supporting students from war-torn or conflict-affected regions such as Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen. AUE offers scholarships and financial assistance to students with limited means, including those with disabilities, siblings of current students, and high-performing individuals from underserved communities. AUE embeds principles of global peace, diversity, and sustainable development across its curriculum to address conflict resolution, intercultural dialogue, global governance, and community well- being. Courses are complemented by internship opportunities, community outreach, and industry collaborations that prepare students to be ethical, solution-oriented professionals.
“In honoring these exemplary institutions, we celebrate the transformative power of education as the most peaceful revolution the world has ever known,” said Uttam Gaulee, President of the STAR Scholars Network. “Their dedication shows us that the surest path to peace begins in classrooms that dare to imagine a more just and compassionate world.”
The heads of institutions from O.P. Jindal Global University and the American University in the Emirates will be celebrated in an award ceremony during the 2025 STAR Global Conference hosted by Istanbul Aydin University in Istanbul, Turkey.
