Dr. Jamila “Andaiye” Scott is an educator and global arts ambassador who has taught and performed internationally, her destinations including Ghana, Japan, Brazil, London, Germany, Amsterdam, Canada and the Caribbean. Currently, Andaiye is an English as a Second Language (ESOL) department chairperson in Prince George’s County public schools in Maryland, and the CEO of MadScott Entertainment – a professional arts management company in Lanham, Maryland. Andaiye has 18 years of professional teaching experience integrating arts, language and culture into school-based curricula. She has worked as an instructional leader, an arts educator, and language educator (ESOL) in Georgia, Illinois, the District of Columbia, and Maryland. She has facilitated multiple after-school mentoring programs (Eye’s On The Prize & the Niamoja Leadership Camp for Girls), and is the co-founder of the women’s Nzinga Rites of Passage program at Clark-Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia (1994).
As an educator and leader, Andaiye received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Music and Dance from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), a Masters of Arts in Integrated Arts Education from the University of Montana, Missoula, a post-graduate certification in Educational Leadership and Administration from Catholic University, a post-graduate certification in Bilingual Special Education from George Washington University, and her Doctorate in Community College Leadership from Morgan State University.
