Sahakarmi Samaj Surkhet
Mr Hari Prasad Upadhyaya is a social activist by profession, Neuro-Linguistic Programming and spiritual practitioner by passion. He has been serving as a Program Coordinator at Sahakarmi Samaj in a program called 'Enhancing sub-national good governance in Nepal. He has done his Masters in Social Work from Mid-western University. Since 2015, he has been actively engaged in social activities especially for youth and children in the theme of education, good governance and empowerment. An ultimate goal of his life is to lead the society towards peace and harmony, for this, we have organized and start working with vision, mission, goal and objectives. His 5 years of engagement in the field of social transformation has paid off with some great opportunities and responsibilities, such as;
Advisor, AASA Network Surkhet: - A youth network involving more than 6000 youths across district mobilizing in the communities, local levels to district level against child marriage and corruption in Surkhet. He has been involved from the initial period of forming these group in the community then after networked into the cluster and then district. As an advisory committee member, he has been playing the role of supportive actor for their new agenda, campaigns and other kinds of institutional development.
Alumni, Nepali Emerging Leaders Program 2019:- A youth empowering program jointly organized by leadership academy, Kathmandu and Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice, University of San Diego, the USA involving 42 emerging youths from a diverse background across the country (6 from each province), which organize fellowship program quarterly for 2-3 day until a year at all geographic locations of Nepal i.e. Himal, Pahad and Tarai. There was an open application-based selection system where they selected peoples as per the submitted application, provided recommendation letter and other social mobility. He has participated in this program with 41 other youth leaders across the country and getting the opportunity to gain and exchange knowledge, experiences and skills to enhance personal and professional capacity.
Alumni, Youth leadership program 2019: - A yearly program facilitated by lead international involving 190 youth leaders across the country from a diverse background in the first session, eligible 96 were selected for 2nd session and 24 were selected for the last final. As a finalist, it was a wonderful platform for him to be connected with other young leaders across the country from diverse background and interact, exchange and work in collaboration on common agendas.
Exchange Alumni, US Department of State 2018: - He had selected as an exchange fellow in ‘Professional Fellows Program for Governance and Society 2018’. The program gave change to visit us and learn about the community/social development, political scenario, federalism and cultural perspective in the USA for 40 days. More than 308 fellows were there from 64 counties. This is one of the greatest opportunity and platform for him to enhance and explore his leadership qualities through this global network.
Secretary, Light of life Nepal: - An youth-led organization established with a mission of socio-spiritual transformation of youth and children. It’s been conducting various programs to empower youths and children for their spiritual and social empowerment in Karnali Province such as Yog and meditation classes, interaction program with experts, coordination and collaboration with concerned stakeholders etc...
