Md Shaikh Farid is an Associate Professor in the Department of World Religions and Culture, at the University of Dhaka. He did his Ph.D. on missionary education in Bangladesh in the Faculty of Education at the University of Hong Kong. He has an M.Phil. and M.A. in World Religions and Culture at Dhaka University, Bangladesh. He was also awarded the Erasmus Mundus Master in Bioethics from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, Radboud University of Nijmegen, the Netherlands, and the University of Padova, Italy in 2013. He has a B.A. in Islamic Studies from Islamic University, Bangladesh. He also studied at the University of Gottingen, Germany, as an exchange Ph.D. student with Erasmus Mundus Fellowship. His research interests include Catholic Education, Missionary Education in Bangladesh, Comparative Education, history of Christianity in Bangladesh, interreligious dialogue, ethics of reproductive technologies, ethical issues in organ donation, and bioethical issues in general. He has published many articles in both national and international journals and a book. His publications have appeared (or are forthcoming) with Springer; Taylor and Francis and the journals: Asian Bioethics, Bangladesh Journal of Bioethics, Journal of Sociology, Arts Faculty Journal, Dhaka University Studies.
